Digital platform ‘Trade Lab’ launched to support cross-border traders

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Single Window (PSW) has rolled out its new digital learning platform, Trade Lab, to help local entrepreneurs and traders better understand international trade procedures and compliance mechanisms.

Developed jointly with the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and backed by the Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), the initiative provides a range of online courses designed to simplify the technicalities of cross-border trade and improve business capacity in the digital age.

At the initial stage, nine training modules have been made available, covering areas such as customs tariffs, export procedures, legal frameworks, and trade marketing strategies. The program is open to startups, small enterprises, and individuals seeking to expand their trade operations beyond national borders.

Officials associated with the project said the platform will serve as a practical guide for traders to better navigate customs rules and international market requirements. They added that PSW plans to expand its training catalogue in collaboration with government institutions including the Customs Academy, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the Pakistan Institute of Trade and Development (PITAD) under the Ministry of Commerce.

The new learning tool is also aligned with Pakistan’s obligations under the World Trade Organization’s Trade Facilitation Agreement, which encourages digital integration to streamline trade processes and reduce costs.

Trade Lab is expected to play a useful role in bridging knowledge gaps among exporters, logistics operators, and trade officials, while also encouraging greater participation of women entrepreneurs and small businesses in global markets by improving their access to trade-related education and digital tools.

Officials said that combined with the Trade Information Portal already operated by PSW, the new initiative aims to build a unified information and learning ecosystem to promote transparent and efficient trade practices across the country.
