ISLAMABAD: Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus Vadim Shagoiko held a working meeting on Friday with a mixed ministerial delegation from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The delegation was led by First Deputy Minister for National Food Security Wasim Anjamal and Deputy Minister of Industry and Production Saif Anjum.
As per details shared by the food ministry the meeting focused on deepening cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector. Belarus highlighted its achievements in agriculture, driven by the successful implementation of state programs supporting the agro-industrial complex. These initiatives have boosted the production of competitive goods and reoriented foreign trade toward export, particularly of dairy, meat, and crop products.
In 2024, exports of agricultural and food products from Belarus to Pakistan rose to 139.5% of the previous year’s level. Key Belarusian exports to Pakistan include dry baby food, dry skim milk, and whey. In exchange, Belarus imports rice and tangerines from Pakistan.
To enhance bilateral relations, a dedicated working group has been established to explore new areas of cooperation. During the talks, both sides agreed to exchange sanitary requirements to facilitate market access for animal products, collaborate in aquaculture with internships for Pakistani specialists in Belarus, continue efforts on the registration and supply of veterinary medicines, and strengthen cooperation in the seed sector, including the testing of plant varieties.
Both delegations acknowledged the positive momentum in trade turnover and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the partnership. Belarus and Pakistan expressed readiness not only to reinforce collaboration in traditional sectors but also to explore new directions for mutual benefit.
