CDA waives right-of-way charges for IT infrastructure and fiberization projects

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced a major policy shift by waiving Right-of-Way (ROW) charges for the installation and development of IT infrastructure and fiberization projects in Islamabad.

According to an official notification, the decision follows the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and aims to accelerate Pakistan’s digital connectivity.

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima, hailed the move as a “game changer” for the country’s broadband sector.

“It has begun! No more barriers to internet expansion. CDA has removed the right of way charges; next, it’ll be major federal entities. Portal already in place!” she posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Industry experts believe the removal of ROW charges will significantly reduce deployment costs for telecom and internet service providers, enabling faster and wider access to high-speed broadband services across the capital.
