ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: In a major step for cultural exchange between Pakistan and China, the record-smashing Chinese animated movie Ne Zha 2 is set to release in cinemas across Pakistan on Friday, October 31, 2025.
The film, distributed by HKC Entertainment in collaboration with Mandviwalla Entertainment, marks the first major Chinese release in Pakistan in recent years — signaling a renewed effort to strengthen people-to-people and cultural ties between the two countries.
Ne Zha 2 has become a global phenomenon, earning over US$2.2 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing animated movie ever and China’s biggest film of all time. Pakistani audiences will be able to enjoy the film in both original Chinese (with English subtitles) and a specially dubbed Urdu version.
Speaking at the premiere in Islamabad, China’s Minister Counsellor, Mr. Shi Yuanqiang, said the release reflects growing friendship between the two nations.
“The arrival of Ne Zha 2 in Pakistan shows our relationship goes beyond trade—it’s a cultural bridge that connects our people,” he said.
Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, representing Mandviwalla Entertainment, said the film’s release shows how cultural cooperation can further strengthen Pakistan-China relations.
“This is more than a movie premiere; it’s part of a broader partnership between our countries,” he noted. “While Ne Zha 2 arrives here, Pakistan’s own The Legend of Maula Jatt is set for release in China later this year — a first for our film industry.”
Sardar Yasir Ilyas, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Tourism, said the move could open new doors for regional cinema.
“This exchange can help both industries grow and bring Pakistani films to one of the world’s largest movie markets,” he said.
The upcoming release of The Legend of Maula Jatt in China, expected later this year, will be the first-ever Pakistani film screened under China’s official quota system, allowing revenue-sharing between both countries.
Industry experts believe this two-way exchange could pave the way for greater collaboration in entertainment, tourism, and cultural diplomacy between Pakistan and China.
