Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir has called on Afghan authorities to take decisive action against Indian-sponsored terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil. Speaking at the 52nd Common Training Programme in Islamabad on Friday, he emphasized Pakistan’s desire for peaceful and cooperative relations with Afghanistan but made it clear that Islamabad expects responsible behavior in return.
“Afghanistan is a brotherly, neighboring Islamic nation,” he stated, “but it must not allow India’s proxies — Fitna al-Hind and Fitna al-Khawarij — to operate from its territory.” He underscored that peace in the region hinges on curbing hostile elements, warning against any tolerance for terrorism rooted in foreign agendas.
In his remarks, the army chief also focused on Pakistan’s internal dynamics, highlighting the critical role of an efficient and honest civil bureaucracy in national development. He described the civil service as the backbone of the state, essential for governance and the functioning of national institutions.
Field Marshal Munir stressed the need for harmony and understanding between civil and military leadership to ensure national cohesion. He spoke at length about the security challenges facing the country and emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces remain committed to maintaining regional stability and defending national sovereignty.
He concluded with a call for unity, urging officers to uphold professionalism, integrity, and patriotism. The address ended with a lively question-and-answer session, reflecting mutual commitment to Pakistan’s progress.
