LAHORE – In what appears to be another round of reshuffles driven more by connections than credentials, the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has once again come under fire for reinstating officials with controversial pasts to senior roles.
At least 10 transfers and appointments were made on Friday through an official notification, sources revealed. Shockingly, some of the officers placed in critical roles had previously faced serious allegations of corruption. In fact, there were even formal recommendations to remove them from public-facing positions. Yet not only have they been brought back—they’ve been handed additional powers.
Insiders within the organization say this isn’t about efficiency or institutional reform—it’s about political influence and personal preferences. “This is not the first time we’ve seen such moves,” one senior staffer shared anonymously. “It’s always the same faces getting shuffled around, no matter the track record.”
Among the most talked-about changes:
-
Mujeebur Rehman Solangi has been moved from Medical Incharge/AD (Chemical) to Liaison Officer Hub.
-
Sajid Mian Bhutto was shifted from Incharge DD (CAK) to head the Textile Division at Karachi Standardization.
-
Imtiaz Ali Memon has been reassigned from AD (CAK) to the Chemical Division in Karachi.
-
Farooq Mughal was moved from CAK Field Officer to Field Officer Import Export Karachi.
-
Khadim Gashkori has taken over as Assistant Director QCC Karachi.
-
Abid Waheed Soomro has been posted as Incharge Deputy Director (CAK) and will retain the additional charge of MSSD.
The reshuffling, insiders claim, has done little to boost morale. “We talk about transparency and merit, but decisions like these say otherwise,” another source noted. “Ministry officials have been warned about this pattern before, but nothing seems to change.”
As frustrations mount internally, many in the institution are left wondering if true reform will ever find a place within PSQCA—or if it will remain trapped in cycles of favoritism.
