The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced an extension for filing Sales Tax and Federal Excise Returns for the June 2025 tax period.
According to the notification issued on Thursday, taxpayers can now submit their returns until August 4, 2025, instead of the original due date of July 18, 2025.
However, the extension comes with a condition—all sales tax liabilities must be deposited within the original due date.
The instructions have been communicated to all Chief Commissioners Inland Revenue, including those at Large Taxpayers Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayers Offices (MTOs), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs).
The FBR invoked its powers under Section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005 to grant this extension.
This move is aimed at providing relief to businesses while ensuring timely tax deposits to maintain government revenue flow.
