Islamabad – Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Khalid Hussain Magsi, visited the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headquarters in Islamabad today, accompanied by fellow cabinet members. During the visit, NDMA Chairman Lt. Gen. Inam Haider Malik briefed the ministers on the authority’s vital role in handling emergencies and disasters across the country.
The chairman highlighted NDMA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national preparedness, coordination, and rapid response systems, especially in the face of increasingly unpredictable weather patterns and natural calamities. He stressed the importance of adopting a comprehensive disaster risk management framework to effectively address the growing challenges posed by climate change.
Minister Khalid Magsi appreciated the authority’s progress, aligning it with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of a modern and responsive disaster management system. He emphasized the need to transform NDMA into an institution that meets international standards, with cutting-edge capabilities.
He also underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration between NDMA and provincial disaster management authorities (PDMAs), calling for more coordinated efforts to tackle disaster-related issues both at the national and regional levels.
Concluding his visit, the minister acknowledged the dedication of NDMA’s team and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to boosting institutional capacity for timely and effective disaster response.
