Gilgit airport shuts down as poor weather delays 46 flights nationwide

Gilgit Airport has suspended all flight operations today due to adverse weather conditions, causing widespread disruption in air travel.

Four domestic flights from Islamabad to Gilgit were canceled as authorities prioritized passenger safety. Across the country, a total of 46 flights experienced delays for various reasons, further highlighting the impact of challenging weather on air travel.

Islamabad reported 11 delayed flights, Karachi 12, Lahore 11, Quetta 3, and one each from Multan, Skardu, and Peshawar.

International services were also affected. A private airline’s flight from Islamabad to Dubai faced a five-hour delay, while flights from Lahore to Riyadh and Abu Dhabi experienced delays between four and ten hours. Additionally, a foreign carrier’s flight from Muscat to Karachi was held up for four and a half hours.

Airlines are closely monitoring the weather, and passengers are advised to check flight schedules before heading to airports.
