The federal government announced a reduction in fuel prices on Friday, slashing the cost of high-speed diesel by Rs12.84 per litre. The new diesel rate will be Rs272.99 per litre from August 16, 2025.
Kerosene oil prices have also been cut by Rs7.19 per litre, bringing the rate to Rs178.27, while light diesel oil (LDO) is now Rs162.37 per litre, down by Rs8.20.
Petrol prices, however, remain unchanged.
This move comes after forecasts from Optimus Capital Management, based on data from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), predicted a significant drop in petroleum product prices for the fortnight starting August 16, 2025.
In the previous fortnightly review, petrol prices had fallen by Rs7.54 per litre to Rs264.61, whereas high-speed diesel had seen a slight increase of Rs1.48, reaching Rs285.83 per litre.
