Heavy Monsoon Showers Expected Across Pakistan from July 28, Says Met Office

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain, wind, and thunderstorms across various parts of the country in the coming days, with the monsoon system expected to intensify from July 28.

According to the Met Office, weak monsoon currents are currently penetrating upper and central regions of Pakistan and will likely gain strength from July 28 onward, while a westerly wave is expected to approach on July 29, triggering more widespread rains.

Regional Forecast
Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan:
Rain, wind, and thunderstorms with isolated heavy downpours are expected in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur from July 27 to 31, with occasional gaps. Similar weather is predicted for Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar during the same period.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
Heavy monsoon showers are likely from July 28 to 31 in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan.

Punjab & Islamabad:
Rain and scattered heavyfalls are forecast in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, and Okara from July 28 to 31.
Southern Punjab districts like D.G. Khan, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rajanpur are expected to receive showers between July 29 and 31.

Balochistan:
Northeastern and southern districts including Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Dera Bugti, Quetta, Khuzdar, Zhob, and Ziarat will experience rain and thunderstorms with isolated heavyfalls from July 29 night to July 31.

Sindh:
While most of Sindh will remain hot and humid, rainfall with thunderstorms is expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Jacobabad, and Kashmore on July 30-31.

The PMD has advised residents in vulnerable areas to stay alert for possible urban flooding, landslides in hilly regions, and disruptions in road travel.
