Honor has officially launched the Magic V Flip 2 in China, setting a new benchmark for clamshell-style foldable smartphones. Designed to compete directly with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, the device stands out with the largest battery ever seen in a flip phone, a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, and a 200MP camera setup.
Design and Display
The Magic V Flip 2 features a 6.82-inch LTPO OLED foldable display with a resolution of 2868 x 1232 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports HDR, Dolby Vision, and an impressive peak brightness of 5,000 nits, ensuring excellent outdoor visibility. The outer screen is a 4.0-inch LTPO OLED with 120Hz refresh rate and 3,600 nits brightness, making it one of the most practical cover displays on the market.
The phone is slim at 6.9mm unfolded, weighs 204 grams, and comes with IP58/IP59 dust and water protection. It is also SGS-certified for hinge durability. Buyers can choose from White, Gray, Purple, and a special Jimmy Choo-designed Dreamweaver Blue edition.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Magic V Flip 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. It runs Android 15 with MagicOS 9.0.1, offering AI-driven features, multitasking tools, and smoother animations. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, UWB, and dual SIM support.
Cameras
The device packs a 200MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 50MP ultrawide lens. For selfies, there’s a 50MP front camera, though users can also leverage the rear cameras using the cover display for ultra-clear self-portraits.
Battery and Charging
What sets the Magic V Flip 2 apart is its 5,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery—the biggest ever in a clamshell foldable. It supports 80W wired fast charging (0-100% in 42 minutes), 50W wireless charging, and reverse charging. Honor claims the phone can hit 50% charge in under 20 minutes.
Availability
Currently, the Magic V Flip 2 is available only in China, with global pricing and release details yet to be confirmed.
