Actress and host Iffat Omar has shared her views on parenting, saying she has always encouraged her daughter to be independent and doesn’t expect her to shoulder the responsibility of caring for her in her later years.
Speaking on a morning show on Sama TV, Iffat opened up about her bond with her daughter and the parenting choices she stands by.
She explained that she has never imposed restrictions on her daughter’s life and has allowed her to make her own decisions freely. Although her daughter can always ask for advice, Iffat said she never interferes in her personal matters.
She added that she loves her daughter deeply and drops everything to listen whenever her daughter needs her. Iffat also revealed that her daughter chose her life partner on her own and she never felt the need to dictate how her child should live.
The actress emphasized that as a parent, it’s her duty to support and care for her daughter — but not the other way around. According to her, a daughter is under no obligation to become her parent’s support system in old age.
Iffat mentioned that her daughter has been living in the US for the past six years and will be getting married this March.
