Islamabad’s Jinnah Ground is the centre of national pride today as Pakistan celebrates its 78th Independence Day alongside the recent victory in Marka-e-Haq. The grand ceremony has drawn the country’s highest leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir. Senior military officials, federal ministers, parliamentarians, foreign diplomats, and other distinguished guests are also in attendance.
The programme opened with the recitation of the Holy Quran, setting a solemn tone before a spectacular tri-services parade by the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force. The display of precision and discipline served as a powerful tribute to the strategic and symbolic triumph of Marka-e-Haq.
The celebrations feature cultural performances, a special flypast, and armed forces parades. A key highlight will be the prime minister’s unveiling of the Marka-e-Haq Monument, dedicated to Pakistan’s military victory against India.
In a show of friendship and solidarity, military contingents from Turkiye and Azerbaijan are also taking part. The event is being broadcast live nationwide and internationally, showcasing Pakistan’s unity, military strength, and diplomatic ties.
