Islamabad to take strict action against vehicles without emission clearance stickers

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) has expanded its vehicle emission testing drive across the capital, warning that vehicles without valid emission clearance stickers will face strict action.

The initiative aims to reduce harmful emissions and improve air quality. A dedicated inspection camp was recently held at D-Chowk, where a large number of citizens brought their vehicles for testing.

According to ITA Chairman Irfan Memon, the campaign first targeted government vehicles and has now been extended to private cars. Vehicles that pass the test are issued clearance stickers, confirming compliance with environmental standards.

Memon stressed that this step is crucial to controlling rising pollution levels. “We will expand testing across the city with modern equipment and will work jointly with Islamabad Traffic Police to act against non-compliant vehicles,” he said.

Owners of vehicles that fail the test or skip inspection will face penalties and possible road restrictions.

The ITA has urged all vehicle owners to voluntarily present their cars for testing, highlighting the collective responsibility to improve air quality and protect public health.
