PESHAWAR: In a new move to regulate tourism and improve local infrastructure, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has introduced a mandatory entry fee for visitors heading to the province’s most popular tourist spots, including Naran, Kaghan, and Lake Saif-ul-Malook.
According to official sources, tourists will not be allowed access to these destinations unless they pay a fixed fee at a designated collection point being set up at Hussamabad in the Kaghan Valley.
The fee structure is as follows:
PKR 200 per person traveling in large vehicles (e.g., coasters, buses)
PKR 100 per person for small vehicles (cars, jeeps)
PKR 20 per person for motorcycle riders
Local residents of the area will be exempt from these charges.
Officials stated that the move aims to generate funds for maintenance, cleanliness, and development of tourism infrastructure while also controlling overcrowding during the peak season.
The KP government is actively working on sustainable tourism models as visitor numbers rise significantly each year. The new system is expected to streamline tourist inflow and improve safety and resource management in these sensitive ecological zones.
