Lack of funding delays promised electric scooters for female teachers

Despite earlier commitments, the government has yet to deliver on its promise to provide free electric scooters to female teachers, as the recently announced 2025–26 fiscal budget allocates no funds for the initiative.

The School Education Department had unveiled plans to distribute scooters to women educators across the province, aiming to support their mobility and improve attendance. However, the absence of a budgetary provision has left the initiative in limbo.

The education minister had publicly assured both school and college teachers that scooters would be provided to help ease their commute. Many teachers, especially those in remote and underserved areas, viewed the promise as a much-needed step toward easing their transportation burdens.

Teachers have voiced their disappointment over the lack of progress, urging the provincial leadership to honor the commitment. They emphasized that reliable transport would not only ease their daily challenges but also improve punctuality and overall performance.

Without funding, the scheme remains stalled—raising concerns about follow-through on other promised education reforms.
