Murree Expressway restaurant sealed for serving expired meat and poor hygiene

Murree – The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday sealed a restaurant located at Phulgran on Murree Expressway after it was caught serving expired food, including meat, to customers and operating under poor hygienic conditions.

According to a PFA spokesperson, the action was taken during a routine inspection conducted by the PFA Murree team, which discovered expired meat products along with severely unsanitary kitchen conditions.

The spokesperson further revealed that the restaurant was also filled with red betel nuts, adding to concerns about its cleanliness and food safety standards.

In response, the restaurant was immediately sealed, and a fine of Rs. 50,000 was imposed.

This crackdown comes under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who has ordered strict action to ensure safe and hygienic food for both tourists and residents of the Murree region.

The PFA has urged the public to report any food safety violations by calling the helpline at 1223.

📌 Note: The name of the restaurant was not disclosed by the authorities.
