Nationwide internet outage hits Pakistan, PTCL and Nayatel confirm disruptions

ISLAMABAD – Internet services across Pakistan faced a massive disruption on Tuesday after a technical fault in an upstream service provider’s network cut off connectivity for millions of users.

Major ISPs, including PTCL and Nayatel, confirmed that the outage was linked to their upstream partners responsible for routing internet traffic into Pakistan. The issue has led to slow browsing, high latency, and in some areas, a complete loss of connectivity.

According to Nayatel’s statement, flooding and heavy rains may have contributed to the fault. Users nationwide reported difficulties accessing websites, video calls, and online platforms throughout the day. Outage tracking service DownDetector also recorded a surge in complaints from multiple regions.

Despite acknowledgment from service providers, there is currently no timeline for full restoration. Technical teams are working closely with upstream carriers to fix the fault and stabilize connectivity.
