Nvidia app update adds global DLSS, RTX 40 Smooth Motion, and more

Nvidia is rolling out a major update to its unified PC app starting August 19, introducing new features that will gradually replace the old Control Panel while improving usability for gamers.

The refreshed app integrates classic settings like anisotropic filtering, anti-aliasing, ambient occlusion, and Nvidia Surround configuration into a single interface, eliminating the need to open multiple tools for display management.

One of the most significant additions is global DLSS override. Instead of adjusting DLSS preferences on a game-by-game basis, users can now apply settings across all supported titles. The Nvidia overlay will also display active DLSS configurations for greater transparency.

Another highlight is the expansion of Smooth Motion. Previously exclusive to RTX 50-series GPUs, the feature now supports the RTX 40-series, delivering AI-powered motion enhancement to games without DLSS Frame Generation. Nvidia says Smooth Motion can double perceived frame rates when paired with DLSS Super Resolution, native rendering, or other upscaling methods.

Additionally, Project G-Assist, Nvidia’s AI-powered in-game assistant, has been optimized to use 40% less memory, ensuring quicker responses without sacrificing performance.

The update will be available for beta users from August 19, followed by a wider release the next week.
