WASHINGTON – In a major development, Pakistan and the United States have signed a landmark trade agreement to strengthen economic ties, reduce tariffs, and open up new investment avenues.
The agreement was finalized during a meeting between Pakistan’s Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer in Washington, D.C. Also present were Pakistan’s Commerce Secretary Jawad Paul and Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh.
Former US President Donald Trump announced the breakthrough deal via Truth Social, calling it a strategic move to expand bilateral trade.
The deal includes significant tariff reductions, particularly on Pakistani exports to the US, and aims to create new opportunities in energy, minerals, cryptocurrency, IT, and infrastructure development. Both sides emphasized deepening cooperation at state and federal levels to further enhance trade volumes.
Officials believe the agreement marks a new chapter in Pak-US economic relations, with mutual benefits for businesses, exporters, and investors in both countries.
