ISLAMABAD — Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent U.S. airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear sites, calling them a clear violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, Islamabad expressed deep concern over the possible repercussions of continued military action in the region, warning that the escalating hostilities could spiral into a broader conflict with grave consequences beyond the Middle East.
“Pakistan reiterates its principled position that such unilateral attacks disregard the norms of international law and the United Nations Charter. Iran has every right to defend itself under the Charter’s provisions,” the Foreign Office said.
The statement described the ongoing aggression against Iran as deeply worrying, noting that it risks fueling an unprecedented surge in violence and instability at a time when the region can least afford it.
Islamabad called on all sides to respect civilian lives and property and to de-escalate immediately. “We urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint and to comply fully with international law, especially international humanitarian law,” the statement read.
Reaffirming its commitment to regional peace, Pakistan emphasized that the only viable path out of the current crisis lies in dialogue and diplomacy, conducted in line with the principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter.
