Pakistani pair cruises into Asian Squash Championship quarterfinals

Pakistan’s squash stars Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal kept their unbeaten streak alive as they cruised into the quarterfinals of the Asian Doubles Squash Championship on June 24. The duo wrapped up their group-stage campaign with a dominant straight-games win over Chinese Taipei’s Chi Yu-Wei and Chen Ching-Fu, sealing victory 11–2, 11–9 in just 11 minutes.

Zaman and Iqbal finished top of Group B, having defeated all opponents without dropping a single game. They kicked off the championship with an impressive 11–4, 11–1 triumph against South Korea and followed up with an 11–7, 11–4 win over the Philippines.

Their flawless run ensured Pakistan’s place at the top of a group that also featured teams from Singapore, the Philippines, and South Korea. The knockout rounds began immediately after the group stage, with the quarterfinal clash against South Korea set for later on June 24.

The Asian Doubles Squash Championship, held in Kuching, concludes on June 26 with finals in men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles categories. Pakistan’s squad, coached by Fahim Gul and managed by Amir Nawaz, now looks to maintain its winning momentum in the knockout stage.
