The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has responded to former national captain Sana Mir’s recent criticism of the women’s team’s domestic schedule, calling her remarks “factually inaccurate” and urging her to verify details before sharing them publicly.
Mir had questioned the value of holding the domestic 50-over tournament after the ICC Women’s World Cup, pointing out that the Pakistan team would only play three ODIs in the lead-up to the global event. She also urged for constructive criticism instead of what she described as “praising inefficiency.”
In response, a PCB Women’s Wing official clarified that the National Women’s One-Day Tournament is part of the 2025–26 domestic season and is scheduled to start after the World Cup, not before it.
“This tournament marks the beginning of the new domestic cycle, which will conclude with the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India and Sri Lanka,” the official explained.
The PCB further stressed that player welfare remains a top priority, highlighting an intensive programme running July to November 2025, which includes two training camps, an away T20I series, a home ODI series, and the World Cup itself.
The board confirmed that the National Women’s One-Day Tournament will be held from November 10 to 23, 2025, in Karachi, after the World Cup concludes. Preparations are already underway with a 25-day skills and fitness camp, which includes 50-over practice matches.
The PCB also pointed to the team’s recent performances, noting that Pakistan went unbeaten in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier in April and played the National Women’s T20 Tournament in May as part of their build-up.
Following PCB’s clarification, Mir took to X (formerly Twitter) again to clarify her earlier comments.
