PM, Food Security Ministry to host send-off xeremony for first batch of agricultural graduates departing for China

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, will host a send-off ceremony on April 15, 2025, for the first batch of 300 agricultural graduates selected under the Prime Minister’s Initiative for Capacity Building of 1,000 Agricultural Graduates in China.

These young professionals are set to depart for China on April 16 for a fully funded international training program aimed at modernizing and transforming Pakistan’s agricultural sector.

According to a statement issued by the food ministry, the initiative reflects the government’s strong commitment to empowering youth and revitalizing agriculture through cutting-edge knowledge and international exposure. The training program, organized in partnership with leading Chinese universities and research institutions, will focus on nine high-priority areas including farm mechanization, biotechnology, genomics, precision agriculture, artificial intelligence, and high-efficiency irrigation systems.

Spanning three to six months, the program is entirely funded by the Government of Pakistan. Participants were selected through a competitive, merit-based process, with special emphasis on their academic background and specialization. Upon their return, the graduates are expected to serve as master trainers, transferring their knowledge and skills to local farming communities and institutions across the country.

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, will also speak at the ceremony. He is expected to highlight the government’s strategic vision for bridging the gap between traditional farming methods and modern scientific practices.

The Prime Minister and the Federal Minister will congratulate the participants and encourage them to act as catalysts for a resilient, productive, and technology-driven agricultural future in Pakistan.

The Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to revolutionizing the agricultural landscape through international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and skill development. The dispatch of 1,000 agricultural graduates to China marks a significant milestone in this journey.
