Pakistan Medical and Dental Council rejects social media rumours of an 80% MDCAT fee hike, clarifying the 2025 exam fee rose only from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 9,000 due to rising operational costs.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has dismissed social media claims that the fee for the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 has been increased by 80%.
In an official statement, PMDC clarified that the exam fee has risen only from Rs. 8,000 in 2024 to Rs. 9,000 this year — a 12.5% increase. The adjustment, according to PMDC, was requested by universities conducting the exam, citing higher costs for paper printing, security, logistics, and examiner payments.
MDCAT 2025 is scheduled for October 5 and will be conducted by designated universities across provinces. The syllabus, developed by PMDC in consultation with stakeholders, is available on the Council’s official website.
Registration opened on August 8 and will close on August 25, with late registration (subject to an additional fee) available until September 1. The test will be paper-based, featuring 180 multiple-choice questions in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning. Applications can be submitted online via the PMDC portal.
