The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has alerted the public about a new WhatsApp scam that’s targeting users across the country.
Scammers are sending fake messages that appear to come from WhatsApp’s official team, using the logo and warning users of supposed account issues or policy violations. These messages typically include dangerous links that, if clicked, can steal personal data or hijack the user’s account.
🚨 What You Should Do:
Do NOT click on suspicious links.
Block and report the sender directly to WhatsApp.
Enable two-step verification in WhatsApp settings for added protection.
PTA emphasized that WhatsApp never asks for passwords or sensitive information through random links. These scam messages may look convincing, but they are designed to trick people into giving up private information.
To stay safe, always double-check any message that seems unusual—even if it looks official.
