Punjab allocates Rs. 20 billion for new road construction projects in Lahore

Lahore – The Punjab government has approved a major Rs. 20 billion investment to expand and upgrade Lahore’s road network under the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) structure plan.

Of this amount, the LDA will receive Rs. 10 billion as a provincial loan to support the financing of large-scale infrastructure projects across the city. Officials say the initiative is designed to meet the growing demands of Lahore’s rising population and to ease mounting traffic congestion.

The decision was finalized in a high-level meeting chaired by LDA Vice Chairman Mian Marghub Ahmed, attended by Wasa Vice Chairman Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmed and LDA Director General Tahir Farooq.

During the session, authorities also approved the annual budget, amendments to zoning and building rules, and updates to penalty and land use regulations. Emphasis was placed on restoring road maintenance and repair services under the LDA’s domain, ensuring existing infrastructure remains functional alongside new development.

The Rs. 20 billion allocation reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing Lahore’s infrastructure, improving mobility, and providing safer and smoother travel for both residents and visitors.
