The Punjab School Education Department has refuted a viral notification circulating on social media that claimed summer vacations in the province had been extended until August 31, 2025.
Labeling the document as fake, the department urged parents, students, and school authorities not to fall for false and unverified news. The bogus notification had stated that all public and private schools in Punjab would remain shut due to ongoing extreme weather. However, officials were quick to deny the claim and posted the fake notification with a bold “FAKE” watermark on their official Facebook page to clarify the situation.
“No such decision has been made yet,” the department stated.
Despite the clarification, uncertainty continues around the exact reopening date of schools. While the summer break is drawing to a close, it’s still unclear whether schools will resume from August 15 as originally scheduled.
Sources from a private news channel, citing officials in the education department, revealed that a proposal is under review to extend holidays till August 31, given the persistent heat and humidity. Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed that discussions are ongoing and an official announcement will be made soon.
Although intermittent rainfall has brought some relief, the region remains gripped by high temperatures and humid conditions, which are being carefully considered before finalizing the reopening date.
