‘Recognition of Palestine is the only path to peace,’ says French President Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron has called on the international community — and especially the United Kingdom — to recognize the State of Palestine, declaring it the only viable path to lasting peace in the Middle East.

Speaking during his official state visit to the UK — the first by an EU leader since Brexit — Macron addressed British lawmakers with a message rooted in diplomacy, urging the UK to join France in supporting Palestinian statehood. “Recognition of Palestine is not just a symbolic gesture — it’s a necessary step toward peace and justice,” he emphasized.

Macron also touched on broader geopolitical issues, calling for continued support for Ukraine amid its war with Russia, and urging European countries to reduce dependency on major powers like the United States and China. He underscored the importance of a strong Franco-British partnership in facing global challenges such as climate change, international security, and ongoing conflicts.

The visit comes at a time when France and the UK are seeking to repair post-Brexit ties, and Macron’s remarks reflected a renewed push for unity. “When Britain and France work side by side, they become a powerful force for good in the world,” he said.

His message was clear: Europe must take charge of its own future. By recognizing Palestinian statehood and strengthening cross-border cooperation, Macron believes European nations can help shape a more peaceful, balanced, and independent global order.
