The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 has passed its first major durability test—and surprisingly, it’s just as tough as its bigger sibling, the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Famous tech durability tester JerryRigEverything put the Z Flip 7 through its paces, raising one big question: Can Samsung’s thinnest flip phone yet survive the same abuse as previous models?
🔍 Scratch Resistance
The outer cover display and back panel, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, showed minor scratches at Mohs level 6 and deeper grooves at level 7, which aligns with standard expectations for modern glass smartphones.
The inner folding display, however, remains vulnerable. Like the Z Fold 7, the flexible screen is prone to scratches even from fingernails or other objects around Mohs level 2-3, due to its softer plastic-like material.
🧹 Dust Resistance
The IP48 rating offers solid water resistance and moderate dust protection, blocking particles over 1mm in size. While some fine debris entered the hinge area during testing—causing slight grinding noises—the Z Flip 7 continued working without any malfunction.
💪 Bend Test
Perhaps most impressively, despite its slimmer design, the Z Flip 7 passed the bend test. Applying pressure in the opposite direction of its natural fold failed to break or deform the device, showcasing Samsung’s improved hinge durability.
For those curious (and brave), the full JerryRigEverything video is available online—though be warned, watching a phone get scratched and twisted is not for the faint-hearted.
