📉 Say goodbye to the “Trending” page. YouTube is officially phasing out one of its most familiar features — the Trending tab, which has been around since 2015.
The platform announced that in the coming weeks, it will retire the single list of viral videos and replace it with something more dynamic and tailored: YouTube Charts.
🔄 What’s Changing?
Instead of showing one big list of what’s popular globally, YouTube Charts will offer category-specific rankings, like:
-
Top Music Videos
-
Trending Podcasts
-
Most-Watched Trailers
-
Top Gaming Content (now moved to the bottom of the Gaming Explore page)
This shift reflects how viewer interests have become more diverse and community-driven. Viral trends are now shaped by niche audiences, making a one-size-fits-all Trending list feel outdated.
📊 Why the Change?
In a recent blog post, YouTube said:
“What’s trending looks different for everyone now. From music lovers to podcast fans to gamers — we want to help each community track what matters most to them.”
The new YouTube Charts will help users stay updated on what’s hot within their favorite topics, not just globally.
🗓️ When Will This Happen?
The Trending tab will disappear within the next two weeks as Charts begin rolling out more widely across the platform.
