KARACHI – In a historic achievement, the Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Karachi has pulled off a record-breaking tax collection, raking in an astounding Rs184.7 billion in just one day — the highest single-day figure in its history.
This milestone didn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of focused planning, tireless efforts, and a push for better tax compliance. The LTO Karachi team, under the leadership of Chief Commissioner Zubair Bilal, has been credited for this incredible performance.
June 2025 alone saw the office collect Rs449.05 billion, which marks a 48% jump from the same period last year. That kind of growth not only speaks volumes about improved systems and processes but also reflects a growing willingness among businesses and individuals to fulfill their tax responsibilities.
Looking at the bigger picture, the LTO brought in a massive Rs3.5 trillion in revenue for the entire fiscal year 2024–25 — a solid 29% increase over the previous year. A large chunk of this came from income tax and sales tax, showing stronger performance in these key areas.
Behind these big numbers is a dedicated team working to modernize tax collection and build public trust. Officials say that this achievement isn’t just about hitting a financial target — it’s a sign that more taxpayers are engaging with the system, and that faith in the process is growing.
This moment marks a big win for the national economy and sets a high bar for what can be achieved through transparency, teamwork, and consistent policy direction.
