Heavy rain and strong winds expected in several cities—residents urged to take caution

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather warning for the next 6 to 12 hours, predicting heavy rainfall and strong winds across multiple cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, including the federal capital, Islamabad.

The alert, issued Monday, cautions that areas across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—including Swat, Chitral, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, and Waziristan, among others—are likely to experience intense rain accompanied by gusty winds.

The same weather system is making its way toward Punjab, with heavy showers forecast for Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Chakwal, Kasur, Mianwali, Sargodha, and other cities.

What to Expect
NDMA has warned that the weather could lead to:

Falling trees and power poles

Damage to weak or temporary structures

Power outages in certain areas

Poor visibility on roads, raising the risk of traffic accidents

Authorities are urging people to limit unnecessary travel, avoid parking near trees or unstable structures, and stay indoors if possible. The public is also encouraged to follow local news and weather updates, especially in areas prone to flooding or landslides.

As the situation develops, emergency services are on alert, and residents are advised to remain cautious and prioritize their safety.
