NADRA updates policy for children’s passports and family documents

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced new rules that will change how families manage identity documents for children in Pakistan.

Under the new policy, the old B-Form will no longer be accepted for passport applications. Parents must now obtain the new Child Registration Certificate (CRC) for their children to apply for a passport. Officials say this step will ensure each child has a verified, secure, and separate digital identity.

Another significant update is the enhanced role of the Family Registration Certificate (FRC). NADRA has now granted the FRC legal status, meaning it can be officially used in inheritance cases, court matters, and other legal processes.

The FRC format has also been updated to reflect various family structures. It now clearly lists details for:
✅ Parents and siblings
✅ Husbands and wives with children
✅ Families of men with multiple marriages, showing each marriage’s details separately

These changes aim to improve data security, ensure accurate family records, and simplify legal procedures.
