China Praises Pakistan Army as Key Force for Peace in South Asia During COAS Asim Munir’s Beijing Visit

China has lauded the Pakistan Army as a pillar of stability and a key contributor to peace in South Asia during Field Marshal Asim Munir’s official visit to Beijing.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) held extensive meetings with senior Chinese leadership, including Vice President Han Zheng, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and top military officials.

Discussions focused on regional security, evolving global dynamics, counterterrorism, and enhanced cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to sovereign equality, multilateral cooperation, and long-term regional stability.

In a high-level military meeting, Munir met General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), and senior officers from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The two sides agreed to strengthen joint military training, defence modernisation, and interoperability to tackle hybrid and transnational threats.

China’s leadership hailed the Pakistan Armed Forces as a cornerstone of resilience in the region and expressed confidence in the enduring strength of the bilateral defence partnership.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Pakistan’s military is a staunch defender of national interests and a firm supporter of China-Pakistan friendship. He reiterated Beijing’s support for Islamabad’s anti-terror efforts and stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of Chinese projects and personnel in Pakistan.

COAS Munir, in response, thanked China for its unwavering support, assuring that Pakistan will continue safeguarding Chinese personnel and projects and actively enhance counterterrorism cooperation.

The visit was marked with a guard of honour at PLA Headquarters, symbolizing the deep-rooted camaraderie between the two militaries.

ISPR stated that the trip reflects the growing depth of politico-military ties between Islamabad and Beijing and underscores their joint resolve to promote regional peace and stability through sustained engagement.
