easypaisa joins hands with Google I/O Extended Islamabad 2025 to explore AI-driven innovation

Pakistan’s first digital bank, easypaisa, has joined forces with Google Developer Groups (GDG) Islamabad for Google I/O Extended Islamabad 2025—a two-day event dedicated to exploring the future of artificial intelligence (AI), innovation, and Pakistan’s growing digital economy.

Held in Islamabad, the event welcomed over 300 participants, including developers, students, and tech professionals from across the region. Under the theme “Unlocking Potential with AI,” the conference aimed to highlight how intelligent technologies are reshaping industries, improving lives, and driving inclusive growth in Pakistan.

The event featured a dynamic mix of keynotes, fireside chats, panel discussions, and workshops, with Day 1 focused on big-picture inspiration and Day 2 emphasizing hands-on implementation.

Leaders of GDG Islamabad—Ali Naqi Rizvi, Sarwat Rizvi, and Ahmed Khan—opened the event with an emphasis on building and using AI ethically and responsibly. Attendees also participated in practical sessions to turn their ideas into AI-powered solutions.

One of the most anticipated keynotes came from Farhan Hassan, Chief Digital Officer at easypaisa, who spoke on “AI in Action: Powering the Future of Fintech in Pakistan.” He detailed how easypaisa is leveraging AI across its operations—from risk management to personalized customer experiences—to build a secure, inclusive, and forward-thinking digital banking platform.

“We’re proud to support this event and celebrate the vibrant tech talent in Pakistan,” Farhan said. “As the country’s first digital bank, easypaisa is harnessing AI to serve millions of customers, especially in underserved communities, through innovation and inclusion.”

Google’s Saad Hamid, Regional Lead for the Developer Ecosystem, introduced Gemini 2.5 Flash, the Agent Development Kit, and Firebase Studio, designed to help developers quickly create AI-powered apps and agents that are production-ready.

Throughout the event, top voices from Pakistan’s tech, business, and creative sectors shared ideas and experiences. easypaisa reaffirmed its commitment to supporting platforms that empower youth, promote innovation, and strengthen Pakistan’s tech ecosystem.

With over 2.7 billion transactions in 2024—valued at PKR 9.5 trillion, or nearly 9% of Pakistan’s GDP—easypaisa continues to play a pivotal role in financial inclusion, representing one in five adult Pakistanis and serving a growing 31% female user base.
