The Sindh government has announced a major initiative to protect low-income households from rising electricity costs by providing free solar systems to eligible consumers.
Under the scheme, families consuming less than 100 units of electricity per month over the past six months will be given solar systems at no cost. The programme aims to benefit 130,000 households, promote renewable energy, and reduce dependence on expensive grid electricity.
Eligibility criteria require that applicants must not have previously received a solar system under any other government programme. Interested individuals must submit an application form along with their recent electricity bill and national identity card. The form must also be verified by the applicant’s Union Council (UC) Chairman or a gazetted officer.
Completed applications should be submitted to the Sindh Energy Department under the “Project of Home Solar System (On-Grid)” before the deadline of August 20, 2025.
Officials say the initiative will not only provide financial relief but also encourage the adoption of clean energy solutions across Sindh.
