Ethiopia expresses solidarity with Pakistan over climate change, Ambassador meets President Zardari

ISLAMABAD – Ethiopia has reaffirmed its support for Pakistan in the global fight against climate change. On Tuesday, Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Dr. Beker extended condolences over the loss of lives in the recent flash floods across Pakistan, stressing that the country contributes the least to climate change yet bears some of its heaviest impacts. He assured that Ethiopia stands firmly with the people and Government of Pakistan in these testing times.

President Zardari appreciated Ethiopia’s solidarity and said Pakistan values its growing bilateral ties with the African nation. He highlighted cooperation in areas of peace and security, trade, investment, aviation, science and technology, climate change, culture, and tourism.

Reiterating his commitment to the “Look Africa and Engage Africa” policy, President Zardari praised Ethiopia’s leadership role in regional integration and global climate advocacy, calling it a vital partner in tackling shared challenges.
