ISLAMABAD – Good news for citizens waiting for passport delivery! Pakistan has introduced AI-powered passport printing machines that can produce 300 passports per hour, marking a major step toward modernizing the country’s passport system.
Director General of Passports Mustafa Jamal Kazi announced that six advanced machines, procured in March this year, have now been fully integrated with NADRA’s database to streamline issuance and reduce delays.
“These machines will significantly cut waiting times and improve service delivery for applicants,” Kazi said, highlighting the move as a leap toward faster and more efficient passport processing.
Another important update is the inclusion of the mother’s name on passports, bringing Pakistan in line with international documentation standards and improving identification accuracy.
Meanwhile, the federal government has also tightened measures against citizens deported for illegal activities abroad. Actions include canceling their passports and registering criminal charges, especially in response to complaints from Middle Eastern countries about public begging and undocumented migration.
These reforms aim to enhance both service efficiency for genuine applicants and accountability for those misusing travel documents.
