ISLAMABAD – The Board of Revenue’s Registration Branch has issued a fresh gazette notification revising property tax rates, paving the way for the restoration of the online property registration system, which had remained suspended for the past three weeks.

Under the new rates, capital gains tax on properties has been increased considerably, particularly for higher-value transactions.

  • For properties up to Rs50 million

    • Active filers will now pay 4.5% (previously 3%)

    • Late filers will be charged 7.5% (previously 6%)

    • Non-filers will face 11.5%

    • Active filers: 5%

    • Late filers: 8.5%

  • For properties exceeding Rs100m

    • All categories will face a tax of 5.5%

The advance tax for buyers has also been revised, with some relief for active taxpayers.

  • For properties up to Rs50m

    • Active filers: 1.5% (reduced from 3%)

    • Late filers: 4.5% (reduced from 6%)

    • Non-filers: 10.5%
