Islamabad to get 3,100 more Safe City cameras for enhanced security

Islamabad’s surveillance network is set to expand as authorities approved the installation of 3,100 additional CCTV cameras under the Safe City initiative.

The new cameras will cover major roads, busy intersections, and city entry/exit points, all linked to the central Command and Control Centre for real-time monitoring.

With this upgrade, the total number of Safe City cameras in Islamabad will exceed 5,000, equipped with facial recognition and advanced tracking features to boost crime prevention and response times.

Officials say the expansion will improve urban security, help in traffic management, and support law enforcement agencies in tackling criminal activities more efficiently.
