Rawalpindi – The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) carried out a crackdown on Friday against illegal constructions violating dengue prevention guidelines. Seven buildings on Girja Road were sealed during the operation.
Officials confirmed that five completed buildings were sealed for breaching dengue SOPs, while two under-construction structures were shut down over safety violations and absence of required documentation.
The action was taken under the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2021, which mandate No Objection Certificates (NOCs) before construction.
Authorities stressed that these measures are crucial to protect public health and ensure strict compliance with building regulations. The operation was launched on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has ordered zero tolerance for illegal development and encroachments.
The RDA urged developers and residents to follow dengue SOPs and cooperate with authorities to maintain safe and regulated neighborhoods across Rawalpindi.
