Solidarity walk held in Islamabad to mark Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: A solidarity walk was held here on Tuesday to mark Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, with participants expressing solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirming support for their rights.

The walk was organised by the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON and was attended by Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Engr Amir Muqam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Shabir Ahmed Usmani, Federal Secretary KAGB & SAFRON Ali Tahir, Additional Secretary Kamran Rehman Khan, Joint Secretary GB Council Sudher Khan Khattak, employees of the GB Council and their families.

Speaking on the occasion, participants termed August 5, 2019, a significant day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, and expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people. They reiterated Pakistan’s position that the unilateral steps taken by India on that date had affected the constitutional status of the region and raised concerns regarding international commitments and human rights.

The participants carried banners and placards highlighting solidarity with the people of Kashmir and called for a peaceful resolution of the dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant international resolutions.
