Sufiyan Muqeem, Saim Ayub lead Pakistan’s charge in ICC T20I rankings after West Indies series

Several Pakistan players have made notable gains in the latest ICC T20I rankings, following impressive performances in the recent three-match T20 series against the West Indies.

Rising spinner Sufiyan Muqeem emerged as one of the biggest movers, climbing 69 spots to 34th in the bowlers’ rankings with 542 rating points. His standout spells during the series have brought him into the global spotlight.

On the batting front, young stars led the charge:

Hassan Nawaz rose 24 places to 30th after scoring 79 runs.

Saim Ayub, with two half-centuries and a total of 130 runs, climbed 25 spots to 37th.

Sahibzada Farhan moved up 34 places to 63rd, boosted by his 91-run tally in the series.

Captain Salman Ali Agha and experienced batter Fakhar Zaman also saw modest gains, moving to 76th and 78th, respectively.

However, the rankings brought some bad news for Pakistan’s seasoned campaigners. Babar Azam, absent from T20Is since 2024, slipped three spots to 17th, while Mohammad Rizwan dropped to 19th. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris, who had a poor series, fell 21 spots to 86th.

In the bowling rankings, Haris Rauf remains Pakistan’s top-ranked bowler at 26th, while Abbas Afridi and Shaheen Afridi dropped to 27th and 36th, respectively. All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz made a big move, jumping 51 places to 56th.

Globally, New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy leads the bowling charts, followed by England’s Adil Rashid and West Indies’ Akeal Hosein, who overtook India’s Varun Chakaravarthy for third.

In the T20I all-rounder rankings, Shadab Khan dropped to 19th, while Saim Ayub’s rise continued as he climbed 70 places to 24th with 119 points. Mohammad Nawaz improved to 36th, while Abbas Afridi and Iftikhar Ahmed lost ground.

India’s Hardik Pandya remains the top T20I all-rounder, followed by Dipendra Singh Airee (Nepal) and Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan).

Pakistan’s youthful squad continues to make its mark, signaling strong momentum ahead of the next international season.
