Former Pakistani actress and model Jia Ali has opened up about her lifelong struggle with forgiveness, revealing that it took her 30 years to forgive her father.
In a candid conversation on Tauseeq Haider’s podcast, Jia spoke about her personal life and her perspective on the local entertainment scene.
When asked if she watches Pakistani dramas or films, Jia admitted she rarely does — not even her own work. She explained there’s no specific reason, but she feels most serials revolve around repetitive themes, like the constant mother-in-law and daughter-in-law conflicts, which she has no interest in watching. However, being part of the industry, she sometimes has no choice but to work in them.
“It’s also why I take on fewer acting projects,” Jia shared. “It takes me a long time to emotionally detach from the characters I play.”
The actress also revealed a glimpse of her everyday life, sharing that she avoids chemicals in her kitchen. She prefers to cook in clay pots using wooden spoons and cleans her utensils with soda and lemon to steer clear of synthetic chemicals mixing into her meals.
Reflecting on her family history, Jia said forgiving her father was one of the hardest things she’s ever done. Growing up, she witnessed her parents’ troubled marriage, which eventually ended in divorce. Despite her mother encouraging her to maintain a bond with her father, Jia said it took decades for her to come to terms with the pain and find peace.
Her openness has struck a chord with many fans who see her not just as a star, but as a resilient woman still learning and healing.
