In a dramatic escalation, Iran launched multiple missiles at Israel in retaliation for earlier Israeli airstrikes — one of which struck a power plant in southern Israel, disrupting electricity supply to several towns.
According to Al Jazeera, Israeli media confirmed through Israel Electric Corporation that a missile landed near critical infrastructure, leaving parts of the south without power.
Sirens blared for about 35 minutes during the attack, forcing many Israelis to spend the longest time yet inside bomb shelters since the conflict intensified.
The Israeli military issued a statement on social platform X acknowledging the missile launches. Reports say warning sirens were heard in cities including Nahariya, Gesher Haziv, Hila, Mi’ilya, and Ma’alot.
Reuters reported that residents spotted a missile streaking across the sky above Jerusalem, followed by loud explosions in the distance.
So far, Israeli sources have confirmed that at least four missiles struck different locations, including Ashdod and an area south of western Jerusalem. However, due to strict military censorship laws, detailed information or video footage about the exact sites and damage remains scarce — sharing such material can lead to imprisonment under Israeli law.
This marks a sharp intensification: since Israel’s initial strike on Iran on June 13, Iran has reportedly fired around 450 ballistic missiles towards Israel in retaliation.
