In a major economic milestone, Pakistan has received an all-time high of $38.3 billion in workers’ remittances during the fiscal year 2024–25, according to fresh data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The figure represents a 26.6% jump from the previous year’s $30.3 billion.
Just in June 2025 alone, Pakistan received $3.4 billion — an 8% rise compared to June 2024. The majority of these inflows came from overseas Pakistanis living in Saudi Arabia ($823.2 million), the UAE ($717.2 million), the UK ($537.6 million), and the US ($281.2 million).
Topline Securities CEO Mohammad Sohail called the remittances a major pillar for Pakistan’s economy, helping to narrow the external financing gap while supporting families back home.
Adviser to the Finance Minister, Khurram Schehzad, also hailed the record, calling it a sign of growing faith among overseas Pakistanis in the country’s economic direction.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to expatriates, saying the record surge shows their trust in the government’s reforms. “This achievement is not just a number — it’s a vote of confidence from Pakistanis around the world,” he said in a statement, adding that recent gains in economic stability are proof that the country is moving in the right direction.
