The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has issued a show-cause notice to a private developer for promoting an unapproved housing scheme on social media.
According to an RDA spokesperson, the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate sent the notice to Future Development Holding Pvt. Ltd. for advertising Capital Smart City Phase-III, an illegal housing scheme located near Thallian Interchange on the M-2 Motorway, Tehsil Rawalpindi. The action was taken on the directions of RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza.
The DG warned citizens to remain cautious and avoid falling victim to scams involving unauthorized housing projects. She also directed the scheme’s sponsors to immediately halt all marketing and approach the RDA for proper No-Objection Certificate (NOC) and approval as required by law. Failure to comply, she added, would result in strict legal action.
To curb such activities, the MP&TE Directorate has also informed various authorities, including the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Cyber Crime Wing, SNGPL, District Collector Rawalpindi, and the District Council, about the growing trend of illegal housing scheme advertisements on social media platforms like WhatsApp, YouTube, and other apps.
The DG has further instructed the MP&TE Directorate to take strict action against all unauthorized housing schemes, booking offices, and encroachments without fear or favoritism.
