PM Shehbaz orders speedy completion of Islamabad Technology Park to boost IT growth

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction over the slow progress of the Islamabad Technology Park project and ordered immediate measures to accelerate construction so it can be completed within the original timeframe.

During his visit to the under-construction facility, the premier highlighted its strategic importance for Pakistan’s technological advancement and economic growth. “This project is critical for the IT sector, job creation, and the progress of our national economy,” he said. “All stakeholders must accelerate their efforts and ensure timely delivery.”

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif stressed that the facility must meet international standards in both infrastructure and services to help drive the country’s digital transformation.

Officials briefed him on the project’s design, which includes two basement levels, a ground floor, and nine upper floors. The park will feature modern office spaces, an incubation center, a business support center, R&D laboratories, a Level III data center, and an auditorium, along with parking for up to 1,200 vehicles.

Authorities said the park will serve as a hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and research, helping bridge Pakistan’s digital divide while boosting global competitiveness in the IT sector. It is also expected to generate significant employment opportunities for young professionals.

The prime minister directed strict adherence to timelines, improved inter-departmental coordination, and regular progress reports to his office. “There is no room for delays in nationally significant projects,” he said. “This state-of-the-art Technology Park will attract foreign investment and unlock the potential of our talented youth.”
